Pay no attention to caco cola He has had nothing to say that wasn't negative. I have won and lost in the arena.
In my first post I mentioned having a laff at being slaughtered my teeny bops using exploits. My second post was to tell new players not to be discouraged by seeing a FEW losers in the game trying to ruin it , but to stay and enjoy the game. I play in 2 other clans in different games and we always help new players and make it a point to get rid of cheats or hacks. The future of any game is gettin new players in, not to make the noobs miserable and run them off.

This kind of thing is the reason why there are so many threads in several forums talking about how much the GW community sucks. In the long run it will be very damaging to the game.
Flame me if you want to. It'll just be a waste of your energy.

Ironic...
You probably got annihilated by an angry team of good players. I remember fighting in the arena where you have to get more kills than your enemy in 3 minutes? We were 3 players cos one dropped versus 4, and we won 9-1 on kills.
The three of us just raced out, stuck together, went for their jugular and fought like lions for 3 minutes, and ended up absolutly nailing our opponents.
If you step out into the arena, and get owned, it means someone who knew how to really wanted to kill you. They might use good weaponry, but so can you, and thats about the only thing you can get large variations in power in at such low levels.

Regarding the original post:
There are no such things as lvl 20 weapons. There are max damage weapons, which have high skill requirements.
The arena is fun, why would you tell anyone to not bother fighting there. I have fun there whether I win or lose. The arena gives a newbie a good idea of what to expect from pvp and skill usage in the game later on. I suggest all newbies spend some time in the arenas.

How exactly do you plan to reach Draknars Forge at level 1?
I can't even escape pre-searing Ascalon below level 3. I guess a level 20 protection party could take me the rest of the way through the explorable areas, but I'd have to be very careful not to get any exp on the road there.

Well it's possible.
I just loaded up a throw away char to see if you could even get out of Pre-Searing with a level 1.
And you can. But it's somewhat difficult, or more so difficult.
You'd still need a good guild of people willing to twink you up to Droknars though. And it'd be an incredible walk.
Fact remains that this is a minority of people and should in no way prevent new players from going into the arena.
This post has little to no grounds to stand on and is based on the actions of a severe minority.
But hey, it's just like real life isn't it? Affirmative action and all that good stuff.

I don't know about level 1. I know a level 4. He was pretty upset that he leveled while we were doing the last mission.

The arenas are open to anyone of the appropriate level
Hate to say it but if you can't cut it, don't fight there. Giving your characters good items isn't a crime. Fighting in the Arena with these items and skills aren't a crime. Granted, childish behavior can suck, but hey, you can always turn off Local and just keep team/guild chat on (whichever you're using).

Its sad that kiddies haffta run off the new players just to rack their points up and worse is that they belong to guilds that either promote it or allow childish behavior.
BTW Please dont tell me how good they are and I'm not I've been playing RPG's longer than most in here have been alive.

But your intial post there is all based from a falsehood. I have attempted several DOZEN times to enter an arena when I was level 13, only to be told by the npc that it is reserved for level 10 and below. So your thread is erroneous from the start, and all arguing is pointless in here.

Um, what? What does that have to do with anything? Oh, just so you know there are 3 arenas, and there are level restrictions....the arena you were at was only for players level 1-10. I have no idea what point your trying to make.

I think there's a fair bit of exaggerating in this thread, but I had a look in the Ascalon arena with a lvl 8 character I have, and there was a lvl 5 on my team which had full wyvern armor and a dragon sword. Now, he didn't get that on his own.
Twinked characters in the low-level arenas is a fact. Whether their somewhat better armor, perhaps a couple of runes, and much better weapons really make them very uber is another issue - at least my team with the twinkie got owned pretty badly.
Better than average certainly, but not completely unstoppable.

LMAO
no literally i started laughing outloud when i saw that.
Low level arenas are a joke, how is it sad that when we make a new pve char we get the best gear?
sounds like another level 1-20 pve wa/mo who has a bloated ego, going into battle thinking he cant get killed, so when he does get killed he looks for reasons to complain.
then calls it childish to get good gear on low levels.
yeah whenever i have to do this PvE missions crap, id rather have Decent armor instead of some 5AL crap.

>_>
Not once did I break out my firey dragon sword while I was pvp'ing in ascalon arena on my Mo/W.
... mostly because I couldn't meet the sword requirement of 10 with it at that level without sacrificing too much from healing. that and it makes me a nice big glowing target. Same reason I hid my fellblade and stuck with a 12-18 butterfly sword with 6 sword req.
lol
I want to point something out here, and this is after MUCH testing...
With 8 swordsmanship
a 12-18 sword with req. 6
does MORE damage than
a 15-22 sword with req. 9
At least, this is on my Mo/W. Both were customized, and the firey dragon sword had a +11% modifier on it as well.

I don't know (from personal observation, I don't really pay that much attention to weapons during a fight) if others have level 20 weapons or not, and even if they do there is evidence to suggest that those weapons don't really benefit a low level player anyway.
But! What I can say is that I have been spending a considerable time in the arena with my L9 N/W and having a BLAST! I have gotten almost a full level of experience there, have re-skilled a couple of times, and even got a new weapon because of PvP needs. I think next I will play a bit with reallocating attribute points so I can experiment with using different skill sets.
In GW, as in any PvP game, not every fight is going to be fair. I think that is the nature of PvP. If I spend my time worrying about what weapon another player is using I'm not going to be spending as much time as I could improving my own character. I will not be a better player by avoiding the arenas, nor will I be better by pointing out how another player has an unfair advantage over me. What WILL make me a better player is focusing on my own character, and practice, practice, practice!

I don't think anyone's here to argue that.
Point I'm trying to make is there is an extreme minority of this.
You have to have a guild ready to escort you all the way to Draknars, give you the money (or I guess you could transfer the funds and items via storage).
Not every apple on the tree will be ripe.

We're trying to tell you that what happened was you got smeared by a coordinated team and, refusing to accept any blame, went and blamed it on so-called max level equipment. And we've established that's not really much of a benefit.
You're also complaining a lot about "hacks" and "exploits", which is erroneous because there are no PvP exploits in this game nor any hacks to speak of. So instead of calling everyone else ignorant, maybe you should revise your strategy so you don't get stomped on next time and have to make up stories about why you lost.

I would try to persuade that if you can't cut it, keep trying until you do. NOBODY wins in the arena every time, and if they do I highly doubt it's their equipment that's doing it. The benefits just aren't that high. They HAVE to be lower than lvl 10, which means they have the same amount of health as anyone. They'll be harder to kill than if they were using gear appropriate to their lvl, but it's still nothing a coordinated team couldn't take down.
Yes, it's cheating. Yes, it sucks. But it is not so widespread or so dire as to justify avoiding the arena, which is a place a lot of people can still have a lot of fun. I'm only at Shiverpeak, which is relatively speaking still a newbie arena, and I have a great time despite the occasional jerk.

You really can't stop super-weaponry unless you retroactively raise the req's for these weapons...I mean, I found a 6-23 Chaos Axe (req 6) for 300 gold - 300, NOT 3,000 - at this site on the Veranti's Sell forum. As for the armor, it probably wouldn't hurt to have req's like level 11 and level 16 on the appropriate armor.
On the other hand, if you grind with any char pre-Searing from 1 -> 7 and quest to 8, you can easily have 1-1.5k + several dyes, and that alone can score you a set of Corwen's armor (the cheaper ones) + a decent weapon on the forum. See also the above paragraph.
